The Oscar winner Hilary Swank is making her return to television in the TV series Alaska Daily. The series is a crime drama that follows Swank’s character, Eileen Fitzgerald, an investigative journalist.
She embarks on a journey “to find both personal and professional redemption.”
‘Alaska Daily’ is created by Tom McCarthy, with Swank as the lead of the cast. Peter Elkoff was set as showrunner. The cast has Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park, and Craig Frank.
The new trailer reveals part of the premise of the new series:
“Eileen Fitzgerald embarks on a cold case for missing Indigenous American woman Simone Angauruk, which is only one case in a disturbing pattern of missing women. Set in Anchorage, Alaska, the second half of the trailer shows snippets of Swank hot on the case while also struggling to adjust as an outsider in Alaska.”

Hilary Swank revealed in an interview with Deadline what made her return to the screen. See below:
“You know, I love people and I love what makes them tick. And I love people who persevere through adversity. I love the outsiders, I love the underdog.Hilary Swank.
What makes us all one person? At the heart of these stories, all everyone wants is to be seen and everyone deserves justice. I think a lot of the roles that I choose have that theme in one way or another and I feel like Eileen Fitzgerald is a truth seeker.
She’s an investigative truth seeker, and she wants to make sure that justice is done and that people see the truth in situations. I feel that that aligns with what people in the world want right now, they don’t want to be lied to anymore.”
‘Alaska Daily’ premieres October 6 at 10 pm on ABC. On the following day (October 7), will be available on Hulu.
