Constantine: Keanu Reeves Return Confirmed To Sequel

Warner Bros. officially confirmed Constantine 2 with Keanu Reeves and the original director Francis Lawrence returning. The script is in the hands of Akiva Goldsman.

In the 2005 original film, Reeves starred as the DC Comics warlock, John Constantine. He investigates supernatural ongoings, including a larger conspiracy to bring Lucifer’s son to the world.
This news comes on the heels of a lot of renewed interest in Reeves that expressed interest in revisiting the hellishly fun character.
The continued success of John Wick and the long-awaited Matrix Resurrections last year returned Reeves to the spotlight.

Constantine’s original cast included Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Tilda Swinton, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Djimon Hounsou, Gavin Rossdale, and Peter Stormare.
The original movie has received mixed reviews. Even if Reeves didn’t have the same visual look or British accent as the comic book character the movie has become a cult favorite.
Reeves previously said he had tried and failed multiple times to get a sequel off the ground. But it looks like the future is bright for Reeves’ Constantine fans.

Two years ago, Peter Stormare, who played Lucifer in the original film, indicated on his social media that a sequel was officially moving forward.
Confirmation of Reeves’ Constantine 2 return comes at a time in which the character had a number of major paths back to the screen.
Netflix’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman comics, they swapped John Constantine for Jenna Coleman’s Johanna.

Do other Constantine projects down?

It’s unclear if this sequel will bring an end to plans for a TV reboot at HBO Max produced by J.J. Abrams in early 2023.
The project that was reportedly in the works with Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù starring as John Constantine.
