2. Pyramid of Chephren

3. DahshurRed Pyramid

Dahshur is a royal necropolis located in the desert on the west bank of the Nile.
The Red Pyramid, also called the North Pyramid
Is the largest of the three major pyramids located at the Dahshur necropolis.
Named for the rusty reddish hue of its red limestone stones.
Local residents refer to the Red Pyramid as el-heram el-watwaat, meaning the Bat Pyramid.

4. Dahshur – Bent Pyramid

The second pyramid built by Sneferu, The Bent Pyramid rises from the desert at a 54-degree inclination.
But the top section (above 47 metres) is built at the shallower angle of 43 degrees.
Lending the pyramid its very obvious ‘bent’ appearance.

5. Dahshur – Black Pyramid

The Black Pyramid or Pyramid of Amenemhat III, was originally named Amenemhet is Mighty.
Was built by King Amenemhat III during the Middle Kingdom of Egypt (2055-1650 BC).
The name “Black Pyramid” is for its dark, decaying appearance as a rubble mound.

6. Pyramid of Mycerinus

Menkaure, was an ancient Egyptian king (pharaoh), who is well known under his Hellenized names Mykerinos and Menkheres.
Pharaoh in the 4th dynasty during the Old Kingdom, Menkaure became famous for his tomb.

7. Pyramid of Djoser

The Pyramid of Djoser (or Djeser and Zoser), or Step Pyramid, is an archaeological remain in the Saqqara necropolis.
It was built in the 27th century BC during the Third Dynasty for the burial of Pharaoh Djoser.
The pyramid was reopened for visitors after a 14-year restoration.

8. Pyramid of Amenemhet I

The Pyramid of Amenemhet I is an Egyptian burial structure built at Lisht by Amenemhet I.
The structures together were known as “The places of the appearances of Amenemhet”. The pyramid is in a poor state of preservation.
Only about 20 meters, but several elements of the complex can be made out.

9. Pyramid of Hawarra

The Pyramid of Hawara was made for Amenemhet III of the 12th Dynasty in ancient Egypt.
Is located about 9 kilometers east of the oasis of Faiyoum.
When it was still standing, the Pyramid of Hawara was a large structure that was 58 meters high.

10. Pyramid of Neferirkare

The Pyramid of Neferirkare was built for pharaoh Neferirkare Kakai (referred to as Neferirkare).
It was the tallest structure located on the highest site at the necropolis of Abusir, between Giza and Saqqara.
Still towers over the necropolis today, but today only four of the original six steps remain.

11. Pyramid of Pepi II

Was the tomb of Pharaoh Pepi II, located in southern Saqqara, to the northwest of the Mastabat al-Fir’aun. It was the final full pyramid complex to be built in Ancient Egypt.
The complex consists of the main pyramid, a Ka pyramid, three queen’s pyramids.
A valley temple and a mortuary temple.
Linked by a four hundred metre long covered causeway. Running through the desert from the Nile to the pyramid.

12. Pyramid of Djedkare

It was the first pyramid to be built in South Saqqara.
The Pyramid of Djedkare Isesi is a late 25th to mid 24th century BC pyramid complex. Was built for the Fifth Dynasty pharaoh Djedkare Isesi.
The main pyramid had a six-stepped core, reaching a peak height of 52.5 m (172 ft; 100.2 cu).
The casing has been plundered, and the top three steps of the core have been lost.
Today, leaving the pyramid a paltry 24 m (79 ft; 46 cu) tall.

13. Pyramid of Userkaf

The pyramid complex of Userkaf was built for the pharaoh Userkaf (reign 2494–2487 BC), founder of the 5th dynasty.
It is located in the pyramid field at Saqqara, on the north-east of the step pyramid of Djoser.
Userkaf’s pyramid is part of a larger mortuary complex.
Containing a mortuary temple, an offering chapel and a cult pyramid.
As well as separate pyramid and mortuary temple for Userkaf’s wife, queen Neferhetepes.

14. Pyramid of Sahure

The Pyramid of Sahure is a late 26th century BC to 25th century BC pyramid complex.
Was built for the Egyptian pharaoh Sahure of the Fifth Dynasty.
The monument consists of a main pyramid; a mortuary temple adjacent the east face with a cult pyramid to its south; a valley temple on Abusir Lake; and a causeway linking the complex.
Sahure’s pyramid is situated upon a hill elevated 20 metres (66 ft) above the Nile valley.
Sahure built the inaugural pyramid in Abusir.
Sahure’s successors, Neferirkare Kakai, Neferefre, and Nyuserre Ini all built their monuments in the general vicinity.

15. Pyramid of Unas

The Pyramid of Unas is a smooth-sided pyramid.
Built in the 24th century BC for the Egyptian pharaoh Unas, the ninth and final king of the Fifth Dynasty.
It is the smallest Old Kingdom pyramid.
Unas built his pyramid between the complexes of Sekhemket and Djoser, in North Saqqara.
Is significant due to the discovery of Pyramid Texts.
Spells for the king’s afterlife incised into the walls of its subterranean chambers.
