Hilary Swank: Netflix cancels ‘Away’ after unique 10-episodes season
‘Away’, a space mission drama starring Hilary Swank, has been canceled After only one season on Netflix.

Cancellation arrives less than two months after the 10-episode season hit the platform on September 4.
The end of ‘Away’ has been attributed to being on the wrong side of cost vs. audience analyses.
Despite the series was purportedly generating high viewership and spent several weeks on Nielsen’s recently introduced streaming top 10 ranking.

‘Away’ joins Netflix’s list of recent cancelations
The show was canceled to follow the ongoing cost-cutting measures implemented by Netflix.
The cost-cutting hit other series, such as celebrated historically-based women’s wrestling dramedy ‘GLOW’.
And other series too: ‘Teenage Bounty Hunters’, ‘Altered Carbon’, and critical favorite Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Besides, the prestige dramas such as ‘The Society’ and ‘I Am Not OK With This’.
‘Away’ brings space exploration a little closer to home.
The viewers follow Emma Green (Swank) and her international crew on a Mars expedition.
As they navigate the challenges of their journey, they must also deal with the repercussions of their loved ones back home.
With Hilary, the main cast of the series also consisted of Vivian Wu, Ato Essandoh, Ray Panthaki, and Mark Ivanir.

Swank used social media to share that she experienced claustrophobia when trying on the heavy spacesuit wears in the show.
“After six months, I was not able to overcome my claustrophobia, but I was able to come to a type of meeting of the minds with it. When we calm our minds and sit with the fear, NOT try and push it away, we can sit with it in a different way, that makes it ‘doable.”
