Eddie Murphy and Kevin Bacon will co-star in “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley” on Netflix.
Bacon joins two names previously announced, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Taylour Paige.
Also, the old gang of Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot is confirmed to return.
Murphy returns to one of his best-known roles as Axel Foley.
In the 1984 “Beverly Hills Cop,” Axel Foley, the out-of-his-element cop, makes his way to Beverly Hills to solve a friend’s murder.
Murphy’s career took off with the success of the police comedy, and he reprised his role as Foley in 1987 and 1994.
In the same year that Murphy hit in “Beverly Hills Cop,” Bacon grew to fame with the classic “Footloose.” However, the two never acted together.
Roles in Tremors, Planes, Trains, & Automobiles, and Mystic River, among so many others, paved Bacon’s career.
Most recently, he stars in “They/Them,” and he’s enjoyed regular appearances on “City On a Hill.”
The Toxic Avenger and Leave the World Behind are the projects on his schedule.
Details on the fourth film in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise are currently under wraps.
The film is directed by newcomer Mark Molloy, with a screenplay by Will Beall. He penned scripts for “Aquaman” and “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.”
Charisse Hewitt-Webster and Ray Angelic are Executive producers. And Melissa Reid of Jerry Bruckheimer Films co-produces.
Murphy will also serve as a producer alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films.
