After his recently-declared love to Chloe, the left-for-Hell Lucifer’s apparent return to Los Angeles is a ruse.
A ruse from an imposter in Lucifer’s twin brother, the archangel Michael. Likewise, the trailer makes Michael’s motivations clear

Pointing to trouble for everyone in Lucifer’s Earthly gaggle.
And by the end of the trailer, we see an appropriately teased epic sibling showdown between Michael and a returned Lucifer.

The production on season 5 stalled in April 2020.
However, cast and crew returned to work two weeks ago to complete the final episodes of season five.
Lucifer is coming back to Netflix for season 5 for its first half part, with eight episodes, on August 21st.
