‘Mom’ star Anna Faris announced who she will not return to Christy Plunkett’s character on season 8.
Anna Faris has starred alongside Allison Janney for the last 7 years on the CBS series ‘Mom’.
Certainly, the announcement hit fans by surprise.
Faris and Janney are in the middle of two-year contracts signed in spring 2019 after lengthy negotiations.
Their new deals secured a two-year renewal for the comedy through Season 8.
However, Anna Faris will not be returning for the eighth season of ‘Mom’, leaving Allison Janney as the sole lead.
The upcoming season, which is slated to start production on September 14 in Los Angeles.
Apparently, Faris’ exit was finalized early into the show’s hiatus.
Christy’s absence will be addressed in the new season, and the writers have been writing without her.
“The past seven years on Mom have been some of the most fulfilling and rewarding of my career,” Faris said in a statement provided to TV Guide. “I’m so thankful to Chuck, the writers, and my amazing castmates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I’ll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family.”, said Anna.

It appears that Faris’ exit has been in good faith instead of some nasty fighting or scandal.
