The song ‘Cyr’ marks the Smashing Pumpkins’ 11th studio album, a double album released on November, 27.
The band delivered a performance of “Cyr,” the title track, on The Tonight Show.
Watch the performance below.
The track boasts a propulsive drum beat and a dark disco/post-punk edge. That’s creeps into the chilling shimmer of the guitar and the serene backing vocals.
Billy Corgan and Co. performed the song in a studio. But the footage was cut up to create a compelling visual collage.
Featuring the same lineup as ‘Shiny’ and Oh So Bright’, ‘Cyr’ feels more like a Billy Corgan solo album.
Corgan produced the record himself and wrote all of its songs, which the band played mostly on synthesizers.
The double album is accompanied by a five-part animated series. ‘In Ashes’ which features music from Cyr.
